Milking the clock was satisfying for Morgantown [ 2010-1-26 9:32:50 | 星期二 | watches1013 ] IF THERE ARE such things as high school basketball critics out there, Morgantown High's basketball team answered them Thursday. And the Mohigans did so by answering those commercials and magazine advertisements. Yes, indeed, they had milk. Somehow, some way, MHS, coached by a math teacher, went against the odds. Up by a mere two points, against a much quicker Capital High team, the Mohigans backed out. They milked the clock, starting around the 3:04 mark. And astoundingly - those of you who watch hoops all the time know what I'm talking about - it worked. Morgantown was the team that finished with 19 turnovers. Capital had but six. The Cougars had 10 steals; the Mohigans but four. Yet Tom Yester's team hit the Civic Center court after a 30- second timeout at 3:04 and passed. They came out of one at 2:59 and passed. They passed and passed and passed and passed. And finally, at last, Capital gassed. The Cougars committed a foul at 1:32, with Morgantown still holding that two-point lead. Milking the clock morphed into Morgantown's bread and butter. Capital was reduced to fouling and jacking up long treys. The Mohigans - a 70-percent free-throw shooting team - simply kept marching to the free-throw line - and converting. In the end, the milking strategy may have cheesed off Capital. But the Cougars were forced to kowtow. Allow me to reiterate, MHS backed out at 3:04 with a two-point lead. Citizen Replica Tell me, hoops connoisseurs, how many times have you seen that strategy backfire? Other articles: http://www.zx0719.com/Blog/View/?645 标签:watches | 浏览(248) | 回复(0)
