China reminds RP of strict law [ 2010-3-1 9:18:52 | 星期一 | watches1013 ] The Chinese government says it is making an effort to limit the number of prisoners sentenced to death but reminds the public of strict [a Title="Full lace wigs" href="http://www.lacewigshair.com/]Full lace wigs laws and severe punishments against drug trafficking.“We have very strict laws and punitive measures against drug trafficking,” Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Liu Jianchao said. There are nine Filipinos who are on death row in China, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).But Liu said the Chinese government is “still chasing the real situation in China.”Cases of drug trafficking involving Filipinos have increased starting 2008, according to Liu.“Drug trafficking is such a bad crime in China,” Liu said, citing opium, which left a bad memory on the Chinese people who are fighting drug trafficking. He said the public should be educated on drug trafficking, particularly those who are risking their lives and welfare.“They should refrain from committing such criminal offenses,” Liu said.He also belied speculations that the Chinese government is being lax on Filipinos jailed in China for drug trafficking because of the good relationship between the Philippines and China.“All death sentences must be ratified by the Supreme Court. We try to limit the numbers,” he said. “Everything will be dealt with in strict accordance with the law.”“In front of the law, everybody is equal. Each case is different, we have to look into each case in accordance [a Title="replica clothing" href="http://www.7dayswholesale.com/]replica clothing with the law,” he said.In China, those who are sentenced to death are executed either by lethal injection or firing squad. However, the Chinese government gives a two-year reprieve, where those who [a title="embroidered patches" href="http://www.momols.com/]embroidered patches show good behavior have a chance to lower their sentence to life imprisonment. In China, drug trafficking of 50 grams or more of highly dangerous drug like heroin may be punishable by 15 years in prison, life imprisonment or death.DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Esteban Conejos Jr. earlier said 196 OFWs are in jail in China for drug trafficking.Of these, nine had been sentenced to death without reprieve, 57 to death with two-year reprieve; 30 to life imprisonment; 44 to fixed term imprisonment or 50-year imprisonment.Meanwhile, 55 cases are still pending in various Chinese courts.
